Active isolative stretching can also be implemented to help balance out muscle such as the hamstrings and quadriceps. This is a type of stretching that involves contracting the muscle in a stretched position for 10 to 20 seconds followed by a passive stretch for 10 to 20 seconds. This process is repeated 3 to 4 times with each muscle stretched farther on each repetition.
