Testing the air in your home used to be viewed as just an ‘extra step’ for extra careful people, for those with illnesses or used when a home had an obvious reason to have poor air quality (weather damage, etc). But recently, more people are realizing that many not-so-obvious pollutants lurk in most homes and offices-and these pollutants like chemical residues, bacteria, mold spores, dust mites, etc are being linked more and more to various health issues, fatigue syndromes and other ailments.Do you want to learn more? Why now more than ever? As we get older, in general, our bodies and immune systems are less and less able to fight off germs. Our bodies also become more reactive over time, so that it takes less of a particular pollutant for us to ‘notice’ it. So, the more we become sensitive and have more ailments, the more important it is to make sure it isn’t your indoor air that’s causing you issues-before someone diagnoses you with something that may or may not be accurate, leading to treatments, doctor visits, medications and expenses that might have been prevented with… a simple indoor air test kit, a laser particle counter or maybe a quality air purification system.Image result for los angeles mold testing

You do want to carefully select your air quality test kits, and in general, a more comprehensive test kit is better than a specific one simply because the broader test kit will identify many other types of organisms or pollutants the might be present-instead of relying on a negative result for mold, for example, when VOC’s were present and causing the problem, etc. Similarly, you can use a handheld air monitor to determine if particles or dust is coming out of your vents or if your air cleaner is doing its job, which is very important.

But if you’re still having allergic or asthma reactions or dealing with chronic fatigue, for example and you know you have very few particles in the air, it very well could be chemicals of some sort in the air or something else that a comprehensive test kit could identify for you. Using air test kits simply cuts out the guesswork so you can get results and not waste your time or money. You also want to make sure that your air test kit comes with fast lab results from an accredited lab. This is very important for accuracy.

So do yourself and your health a favor and test the air in your home and office with a quality home air test kit at least once a year and definitely if you have any weather damage, leaks, etc. That way you can either have peace of mind and know that your air isn’t a problem-or you might identify what’s been causing you headaches, chronic fatigue or even making you feel older than you really are. Then if there are pollutants, strongly consider cleaning up the air with a quality air purification system so that you can live and feel your best every day-and spend far less time and money at the doctor’s office.
